Celery () can be considered as a model plant for studying pectin-enriched primary cell walls. In addition to parenchyma cells with xyloglucan-deficient walls, celery petioles contain collenchyma, a mechanical tissue with thickened cell walls of similar composition. This study presents a comprehensive analysis of these tissues at both early and late developmental stages, integrating data on polysaccharide yield, composition, localization, and transcriptome analysis.

Introduction: The MAPT gene encodes Tau, a protein mainly expressed by neurons. Tau protein plays an important role in cerebral microtubule polymerization and stabilization, in axonal transport and synaptic plasticity. Heterozygous pathogenic variation in MAPT are involved in a spectrum of autosomal dominant neurodegenerative diseases known as taupathies, including Alzheimer's disease, Pick's disease, fronto-temporal dementia, cortico-basal degeneration and progressive supranuclear palsy.

Evaluation of Hepatotoxic Potential of an Azo Dye, Eriochrome Black T on Freshwater Catfish, Clarias batrachus.

Bull Environ Contam Toxicol

December 2024

Faculty of Life Sciences, Department of Zoology, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, 202002, India.

Nowadays, textile industries are one of the major contributors to water pollution, causing a devastating impact on aquatic ecosystems. Therefore, the current study aimed to investigate the impact of a textile azo dye, Eriochrome Black T (EBT), on the liver of a freshwater fish, Clarias batrachus. Fish were exposed to three concentrations of EBT, i.

High-frequency shoot regeneration, assessment of genetic fidelity, and histochemical analysis of forskolin production in Coleus forskohlii Briq.

Protoplasma

November 2024

Department of Agricultural Biotechnology, Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya, Nadia, Mohanpur, West Bengal, 741252, India.

Article Synopsis
  • Forskolin, derived from the roots of Coleus forskohlii, has therapeutic potential and this study aimed to develop a reliable method for regenerating these plants year-round for consistent forskolin production.
  • The researchers found that using 1.5 mg/L meta-topolin increased shoot and leaf output significantly, with optimal results achieved through a combination with auxin.
  • Results showed high plant survival rates during acclimatization, confirmed genetic fidelity with the mother plant, and a notable increase in forskolin levels in the in vitro roots, suggesting this method could support commercial production and conservation efforts.
