Oxidatively modified plasma lipoproteins play an important role in the molecular mechanisms of vascular wall damage in atherosclerosis and diabetes mellitus. It was found that the oxidizability of low-density lipoproteins (LDLs) is more than one order of magnitude higher than that of high-density lipoproteins (HDLs). It was shown that acylhydroperoxy derivatives of phospholipids of oxidized biomembranes are predominantly captured by LDL particles, but not by HDLs, which refutes the hypothesis about the involvement of HDLs in the reverse transport of lipohydroperoxides (LOOH).

Aim: To study the role of lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] as a potential autoantigen causing the activation of immunocompetent cells in atherosclerosis.

Subjects And Methods: A total of 104 men with stable coronary artery (CA) disease and different degrees of progressive coronary atherosclerosis were examined. Clinical blood analysis was carried out and lymphocyte subpopulations (CD4+, Th1, Th17, and Treg) were determined using immunofluorescence and flow cytometry.

The aggregability of red blood cell (RBCs) is associated with the contribution of plasma proteins, such as fibrinogen and lipoproteids, to blood-clotting. Hence, we hypothesized that RBC aggregability reflects the blood-clotting reaction. A noninvasive optical monitoring method to measure RBC aggregability for the assessment of blood-clotting stage during mechanical circulatory support was developed.

The aim of study was to evaluate changes of biochemical, immunological parameters and the state of the liver parenchyma in patients with metabolic syndrome. The correlation analysis have shown significant connections between serum concentration of TIMP-1 and tryglicerid level (p = 0,04) and increase activity of GGTP (р = 0,0475). The activity of GGTP correlated with increase of lipoproteids of low density in serum (р = 0,034).

The dynamics of erythrocytes properties in the acute phase of traumatic brain injury caused by less-lethal firearms has been studied by the methods of atomic force and morphometry. The experiments have been performed on sheep by a Makarych pistol single shot at the parietooccipital area. It has been established that under the influence of the shock waves the erythrocyte disks and transmembrane liquid oscillatory fluctuations (flicker) are increased.
