Adrenal incidentalomas are increasingly identified through advanced imaging, posing diagnostic challenges due to their varied benign and malignant nature. We present the case of a 29-year-old male who, during evaluation for left renal colic, was found to have a 5.5 cm heterogeneous right adrenal mass on non-contrast CT, initially suggestive of a myelolipoma.

The novel case report of a temporary arrhythmia that developed after a positional change in a patient under general anesthesia emphasizes the possibility of potentially lethal cardiac arrhythmias that may develop owing to caudal movement of the peripherally inserted central venous catheter ([CVC] PICC) tip when changing patient positions. We present a case of temporary arrhythmia that developed after a positional change in a 44-year-old female patient scheduled for laparoscopic adrenalectomy under general anesthesia. She had undergone preoperative insertion of a PICC using an electrocardiogram (ECG)-guided tip confirmation system (TCS).

Objective: To investigate the prevalence and incidence of dementia in patients with non-overtly functional adrenal tumours (NOFATs).

KCNJ5 somatic mutations in aldosterone-producing adenoma (APA) are linked to higher left ventricular mass index (LVMI) and worse diastolic function. We previously identified an association between plasma tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases-1 (TIMP-1) and an aldosterone-induced increase in LVMI and diastolic dysfunction. This study aimed to investigate the association between the presence of KCNJ5 somatic mutation and plasma TIMP-1 in APA patients.

Cognition in patients with mild autonomous cortisol secretion at baseline and post-adrenalectomy.

Eur J Endocrinol

November 2024

Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Nutrition, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN 55905, United States.

Objectives: The impact of mild autonomous cortisol secretion (MACS) on cognition is incompletely characterized. We aimed to assess cognition in patients with MACS, identify factors associated with lower cognition, and determine the impact of adrenalectomy on cognition.

Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study (4/2019 to 10/2022) and a longitudinal cohort study (10/2021 to 9/2023) of adults with MACS and referent subjects.
