Introduction: Glucose homeostasis may be dependent on liver conditions and influence health-related markers and quality of life (QoL) objective measurements. This study aimed to analyze the interactions of glycemia with liver and health status in a prediabetic population.
Subjects And Methods: This study included 2220 overweight/obese prediabetics from the multinational PREVIEW project.

Immune-checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) are being tested as neoadjuvant therapies in various solid tumours, including in patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC), with promising results. Key findings thus far include that this approach is well-tolerated with favourable clinical outcomes including promising pathological response rates in initial studies. Pathological responses are likely to be increased by combining other agents with anti-PD-(L)1 antibodies.

In Arctic seabirds, positive correlations between per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and thyroid hormones (THs) and resting metabolic rate (RMR) have been documented. Herein we investigated levels and patterns of PFAS in Arctic terns (Sterna paradisaea) nesting in Kongsfjorden, Svalbard (Norway), and if circulating concentrations of PFAS correlated with their circulating concentrations of TH, and the RMR of the birds. The hypothesis was that there will be positive correlations between PFAS, TH, and RMR, indicating that PFAS-induced increases in plasma THs could be responsible for the increased RMR.

The intensification of human activities in the Yellow River Basin has significantly altered its ecosystems, challenging the sustainability of the region's ecosystem assets. This study constructs an ecosystem asset index for the period from 2001 to 2020, integrating it with human footprint maps to analyze the temporal and spatial dynamics of ecosystem assets and human activities within the basin, as well as their interrelationships. Our findings reveal significant improvement of ecosystem assets, mainly attributed to the conversion of farmland back into natural habitats, resulting in a 15,994 km increase in ecological land use.
