Objective: Owing to persistent concerns about side effects, human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination rates in Japan have remained low. Pharmacists are therefore encouraged to improve vaccination rates by providing accurate information. Background: To estimate a correlation between change in lung ultrasound aeration score (LUSS) and mortality in patients with ventilator-associated pneumonia.
Materials And Methods: We conducted a prospective observational study in which lung ultrasound, the partial pressure of arterial oxygen to fraction of inspired oxygen ratio (PaO/FiO ratio), and static lung compliance were performed for five consecutive days since the diagnosis of ventilator-associated pneumonia (day 1-5) in a 20-bed multidisciplinary intensive care unit in at a tertiary care academic institute in Northern India. A hundred and seventeen ventilated patients were studied for the first 5 days after ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) development.

Respiratory infection by influenza A virus (IAV) is known to cause systemic inflammation, neuroinflammation, and cognitive impairment. We previously found that experimental infection with IAV affected oligodendrocyte homeostasis, which was associated with altered expression of genes involved in myelin maintenance as well as the lipidome. In this study, we sought to determine if clemastine, an antihistamine with myelin promoting properties, could reverse the effects of IAV on oligodendrocyte (OL) specific genes, as well as mitigate infection-induced cognitive impairment.
