Background: Corrosive substance ingestion is rare but can cause severe injury, especially to the upper gastrointestinal tract, and can be a potentially fatal event. Various surgical procedures have been advocated for gastroesophageal reconstruction, but especially those using the right colon, when the ileocecal valve is preserved for gastric reconstruction, are briefly exposed in literature and have not been studied in humans by controlled studies. Using the right colon is believed to be beneficial because of the anti-reflux mechanism of the ileocecal valve.

Background: Sarcopenia, characterized by degenerative skeletal muscle loss, is increasingly linked to poor surgical outcomes. Glutamine, an immune-modulating formula, may stimulate muscle protein synthesis and inhibit degradation. We used the psoas major muscle area (PMMA) at the third lumbar vertebra, normalized for height (PMMA index), as a skeletal muscle indicator.

The pathogenesis of post-gastrectomy reactive hyperinsulinaemic hypoglycaemia is not yet fully clarified. Recent studies suggest an up-regulation of the intestinal glucose transporter SGLT-1 aimed to prevent carbohydrate malabsorption. The overexpression of SGLT-1 could therefore represents one of the mechanisms underlying the wide glycemic excursions found in patients after gastrectomy, but studies investigating the use of SGLT-1/SGLT-2 inhibitors in patients with post-gastrectomy reactive hyperinsulinemic hypoglycaemia are very scant in the literature.

Background: Late recurrence of gastric cancer at 10 years post-gastrectomy is extremely rare, and the underlying mechanism remains unclear. We report a para-aortic lymph node metastasis case that recurred 12 years postoperatively.

Case Presentation: A 44-year-old woman pathologically diagnosed with moderately to poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma with pT2(SS)pN2cM0pStageIIIA according to the Japanese Classification of Gastric Carcinoma (the 13th Edition) underwent laparoscopic distal gastrectomy with D1 + lymph node dissection.

Unlabelled: Before the development of transfusion medicine, severe anaemia was an important cause of morbidity and mortality. The discovery of haematopoietic mechanisms and essential nutrients made it possible to easily treat and prevent this condition. Nevertheless, it is often fatal in patients presenting with extreme anaemia (haemoglobin levels <2 g/dl).
