A series of 100 penetrating wounds of the abdomen and thorax is reviewed. Eighty-three were due to stab-wounds. The recent increase in incidence is confirmed and the distribution throughout the day and months of the year is given. The results and methods of treatment of thirty-six abdominal, ten thoraco-abdominal and thirty-seven thoracic wounds are given and described. An operative approach to abdominal wounds is supported. Conservative measures, including more frequent use of intercostal-tube drainage for pneumothorax and haemothorax, are satisfactory for the majority of chest wounds. Cardiac wounds require urgent assessment and resuscitation with pericardiocentesis and thoracotomy.

Objective: Febrile neutropenia (FN) is a serious clinical event, associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Imaging has a central role in the identification of the fever cause. The study objectives were to assess abnormalities of potential infectious origin on paranasal sinus, chest and abdomen/pelvis CT scans performed during an episode of FN, in patients with or without specific clinical signs, and to evaluate their impact on the frequency of changes in treatment.

An eight-year-old spayed female Abyssinian cat presented with lameness. Palpation revealed swelling, heat, and a reduced range of motion in the stifle and tarsal joints in both hind limbs. A radiographic examination of both hind limbs revealed periosteal proliferation from the distal tibia to the tarsal and metatarsal bones, which suggested hypertrophic osteopathy.

We present the case of a 42-year-old male who was incidentally diagnosed with polysplenia syndrome and subsequently diagnosed with heterotaxy syndrome. Upon further investigation, he was determined to have a sinus venosus type atrial septal defect.
