The prevalence of goiter, thyroid nodules, and thyroid cancers in the pediatric population has increased. In some rare cases, local conditions such as juvenile desmoid-type fibromatosis (JDTF) can mimic specific thyroid pathology, complicating the diagnostic process. A 17-year-old obese adolescent girl was admitted to the Endocrinology Department with progressive swelling on the left side of the neck, persisting for approximately one year, recently accompanied by dysphonia and inspiratory dyspnea, and ultimately diagnosed as a unilateral nodular goiter associated with compressive phenomena.

Thyrotoxic periodic paralysis (TPP) is a rare but significant complication of hyperthyroidism, characterized by episodes of muscle weakness or paralysis and associated hypokalemia. This case report details a 30-year-old Latin American male with a history of Graves' disease, presenting with acute muscle weakness and hypokalemia. The patient reported transient episodes of weakness over recent weeks, culminating in a severe episode prompting emergency evaluation.

Background: Thyroid rests are common and arise during embryological development, with aberrant descent of thyroid tissue along the thyro-thymic tract. These give rise to a range of pathologies, including goitre formation and malignancy. Thyroid rests have been graded I-IV based on their connection to the thyroid gland proper - grade I is a short protuberance, grade II & III are connected via a pedicle and fibrous band respectively, and grade IV is completely disconnected.

Unlabelled: Thyroid follicular nodular disease (non-toxic multinodular goiter), the commonest thyroid disorder, can be managed with different surgical methods, including total thyroidectomy (TT), near-total thyroidectomy (NTT), subtotal thyroidectomy (STT), and Dunhill operation (DO). This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to provide an update on the role of TT versus NTT, STT, or DO in MNG concerning goiter recurrence, thyroid cancer incidence, and reported complications. We conducted a systematic literature search in Medline, EMBASE, and CENTRAL.
