Background: Decannulation for people in a persistent vegetative state (PVS) is challenging and relevant predictors of successful decannulation have yet to be identified.
Objective: This study aimed to explore the predictors of tracheostomy decannulation outcomes in individuals in PVS and to develop a nomogram.
Method: In 2022, 872 people with tracheostomy in PVS were retrospectively enrolled and their data was randomly divided into a training set and a validation set in a 7:3 ratio.

Near-total mandibular reconstruction poses many challenges to reconstructive surgeons. The purpose of this article is to present a challenging case in a patient with osteoradionecrosis of the mandible requiring a near-total mandibular reconstruction using bilateral scapula tip free tissue reconstruction. A 68-year-old African-American male with a history of T2N0M0 squamous cell carcinoma of the tonsil presented with advanced stage osteoradionecrosis of the mandible.

Objective: We report an extremely rare case of giant fibrovascular polyp of the hypopharynx.
Method: We present a 49-year-old man who had increasing difficulty swallowing, advanced respiratory distress and weight loss, as well as a hypopharyngeal mass protruding from his mouth.
Results: Diagnosis was confirmed by endoscopic examination and computed tomography.

Haemangiopericytoma (HPC) is a rare vascular tumor arising from the pericytes of Zimmermann and is characterized by its unpredictable and variable biological behavior. These tumors are common in the trunk and the extremities and less than 16% of the cases occur in the head & neck region. Its occurrence in the oral cavity and pharynx is uncommon.
