Alcohol abuse can lead to significant cardiac injury, resulting in Alcoholic heart disease (AHD). The interplay between cardiac health and gut microbiota composition in the context of alcohol consumption is not well understood. Shen Song Yang Xin (SSYX) capsule and amiodarone are common drugs used to treat alcoholic heart disease, but little is known about their microbial regulatory mechanisms in alcoholic heart disease.

This study explores the therapeutic potential of ω-3 algal oil (rich in DHA) and ω-7 sea buckthorn oil (rich in palmitoleic acid) in addressing hyperlipidemia and associated metabolic disorders. These oils regulate lipid metabolism through the PPARγ-LXRα-ABCA1/ABCG1 signaling pathway, reducing cholesterol accumulation, oxidative stress, and inflammation. In high-fat diet-induced hyperlipidemic mice, supplementation with these oils significantly improved lipid profiles, alleviated hepatic steatosis, and promoted cardiovascular health.

Background: Acute pancreatitis (AP) is a complex inflammatory disorder with varying degrees of severity, impacting patient recovery and healthcare resource utilization. The length of hospital stay (LOS) is a pivotal indicator of recovery, and identifying factors influencing LOS can offer insights into AP management. High-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), known for its cardioprotective properties, has been posited to influence AP outcomes; however, its relationship with LOS remains unclear.

The growing burden of metabolic disorders manifested by hypertension, type 2 diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia, obesity and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease presents a significant global health challenge by contributing to cardiovascular diseases and high mortality rates. Β-blockers are among the most widely used drugs in the treatment of hypertension and acute cardiovascular events. In addition to blocking the receptor sites for catecholamines, third-generation β-blockers with associated vasodilating properties, such as carvedilol and nebivolol, provide a broad spectrum of metabolic effects, including anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties and a favorable impact on glucose and lipid metabolism.

Methanol (CH₃OH) is a volatile, transparent, and toxic substance widely used in chemical substrates, antifreeze, and industrial applications. Ethanol (C₂H₅OH), in contrast, is commonly used in alcoholic beverages, as a fuel additive, and as an antiseptic. Differentiating between methanol and ethanol is critical due to the severe health risks associated with methanol ingestion, while ethanol is safe for consumption in moderation.
