Mechanical properties of the spinal cord tissue--biological basis for the development of the modality of the DREZ surgery lesioning technique Succesful treatment of the chronic neurogenic pain of spinal cord and cauda equina injury origin remains a significant management problem. The mechanism of this pain phenomenon has been shown to be related to neurochemical changes that lead to the state of hypereactivity of the second order dorsal horn neurons. The DREZ surgery (Dorsal Root Entry Zone lesion), designed to destroy anatomy structures involved in pain generating thus interrupting the neurogenic pain mechanism, as a causative procedure in treating this chronic pain, has been performed by using different technical modalities: Radiofrequency (RF) coagulation technic, Laser, Ultrasound and Microsurgical DREZotomy technic.

Unlabelled: Cholinergic hyperinnervation in submucosa of aganglionic segment of Hirschsprung's disease has been described. However, objective measurement of the nerve fibers was insufficiently reported.
Objectives: To study the amount and size of hypertrophic submucosal nerve trunks in the aganglionic segment of Hirschsprung's disease, semiquantitatively and evaluate the possibility of using the size as objective diagnostic criteria.

Several methods traditionally have been used to collect and measure whole mouth saliva. The purpose of the study was to determine resting and stimulated whole saliva secretion rates and to evidence decreased saliva production (xerostomia) in outpatients' clinic. In this prospective study, saliva production was quantified by swab weighing, suction method (before and after chewing) and by oral sugar clearance.

Suzanne recently described a new technique of axillary lymphadenectomy in breast cancer to reduce post surgical morbidity. It combines liposuction and endoscopic dissection. To determine whether this technique induces lymph node alterations, we examined retrospectively 111 lymphadenectomies done by this new method and compared them to 41 lymphadenectomies performed by conventional surgery.
