Miniaturization of next-generation active neural implants requires novel micro-packaging solutions that can maintain their long-term coating performance in the body. This work presents two thin-film coatings and evaluates their biostability and in vivo performance over a 7-month animal study. To evaluate the coatings on representative surfaces, two silicon microchips with different surface microtopography are used.

Recent times have witnessed revolutionary progress in the design and development of functionalized nanomaterials as promising tools for biomedicinal applications. However, the gap in the fundamental understanding of the "biological responses" of the nanomaterials after the formation of "protein-corona" when it is exposed to the body system has drawn a thin line from its discoveries to real clinical trial. In this article we have synthesized two different silver NPs capped with the polyphenols of (guava) leaf extract and the other with one of its major polyphenolic groups, morin.

Fiber-based artificial muscles are soft actuators used to mimic the movement of human muscles. However, using high modulus oxide ceramics to fabricate artificial muscles with high energy and power is a challenge as they are prone to brittle fracture during torsion. Here, a ceramic metallization strategy is reported that solves the problem of low torsion and low ductility of alumina (AlO) ceramics by chemical plating a thin copper layer on alumina filaments.

Study on Antibacterial Activities of and Leaf Extracts Against Some Human Pathogens.

ScientificWorldJournal

January 2025

Department of Biology, College of Science, Bahir Dar University, P. O. Box 79, Bahir Dar, Ethiopia.

The present study was aimed to verify the medicinal value of and traditionally used to treat human and animal ailments in Ethiopia. Fresh leaves of these species were collected, dried under shade, and ground into fine powder. The extraction was carried out by the maceration method using methanol as a solvent.

Atomically thin van der Waals (vdW) films provide a material platform for the epitaxial growth of quantum heterostructures. However, unlike the remote epitaxial growth of three-dimensional bulk crystals, the growth of two-dimensional material heterostructures across atomic layers has been limited due to the weak vdW interaction. Here we report the double-sided epitaxy of vdW layered materials through atomic membranes.
