Parts per Million of Propanol and Arsine as Responsible for the Poisoning of the Propylene Polymerization Reaction.

Polymers (Basel)

September 2023

Food Packaging and Shelf-Life Research Group (FP&SL), Food Engineering Program, Universidad de Cartagena, Avenida del Consulado St. 30, Cartagena de Indias 130015, Colombia.

Polypropylene synthesis is a critical process in the plastics industry, where control of catalytic activity is essential to ensure the quality and performance of the final product. In this study, the effect of two inhibitors, propanol and arsine, on the properties of synthesized polypropylene was investigated. Experiments were conducted using a conventional catalyst to polymerize propylene, and different concentrations of propanol and arsine were incorporated into the process.

Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine, Department of Medicine.

Organoarsenicals, such as lewisite and related chloroarsine, diphenylchloroarsine (DPCA), are chemical warfare agents developed during World War I. Stockpiles in Eastern Europe remain a threat to humans. The well-documented effects of cutaneous exposure to these organoarsenicals include skin blisters, painful burns, and life-threatening conditions such as acute respiratory distress syndrome.

Characterising the ground level concentrations of harmful organic and inorganic substances released during major industrial fires, and implications for human health.

Environ Int

April 2022

Faculty of Engineering and Environment, Department of Geography and Environmental Sciences, University of Northumbria, Ellison Building, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 8ST, UK. Electronic address:

We report on the concentration ranges and combustion source-related emission profiles of organic and inorganic species released during 34 major industrial fires in the UK. These episodic events tend to be acute in nature and demand a rapid public health risk assessment to indicate the likely impact on exposed populations. The objective of this paper is to improve our understanding of the nature, composition and potential health impacts of emissions from major incident fires and so support the risk assessment process.

To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of acute occupational poisoning in Yunnan province, so as to provide basis for formulating prevention and control measures of acute occupational poisoning in Yunnan province. In December 2019, the information of acute occupational poisoning events reported in Yunnan province from 2004 to 2019 was collected, and the epidemiological distribution, event classification, industry characteristics, poison types and poisoning causes were analyzed. A total of 47 acute occupational poisoning incidents were reported in Yunnan province from 2004 to 2019, with 562 poisoning cases and 51 deaths (case fatality rate of 9.
