This study aimed to investigate the association between the levels of tissue plasminogen activator-inhibitor complex (t-PAIC), thrombin-antithrombin complex (TAT), plasmin-α2 plasmin-inhibitor complex (PIC), and thrombomodulin (TM) with clinical outcomes in patients with AMI.

Background/objectives: Injection of lipopolysaccharides (LPS) in experimental models induces a systemic inflammatory response that is associated with deleterious effects on intestinal morphology and physiology. In this study, we have studied in female mice the effects of dietary supplementation with bovine lactoferrin (bLF) given before intraperitoneal injection of LPS on jejunum and colon.

Methods: The first study evaluated the efficiency of different bLF and LPS concentrations to determine the optimal experimental conditions.

Introduction: Chronic cassava-derived cyanide poisoning is associated with the appearance of konzo, a tropical spastic paraparesis due to selective upper motor neuron damage. Whether the disease is caused by a direct action of cyanide or its metabolites is still an open question. This preliminary study assessed the neurotoxic effects of thiocyanate (SCN) and cyanate (OCN), two cyanide metabolites hypothesized to be plausible toxic agents in konzo.

Locally produced fish hydrolysate and oil from the agrifood sector comprises a sustainable solution both to the problem of fish waste disposal and to the petfood sector with potential benefits for the animal's health. This study evaluated the effects of the dietary replacement of mainly imported shrimp hydrolysate (5%) and salmon oil (3%; control diet) with locally produced fish hydrolysate (5%) and oil (3.2%) obtained from fish waste (experimental diet) on systemic inflammation markers, adipokines levels, cardiac function and fecal microbiota of adult dogs.
