Background: Nipple-sparing mastectomy (NSM) is infrequently performed in older women, at least in part owing to concerns regarding age-related complications. We describe postoperative outcomes of NSM in older women and risk factors for complications, with the goal of informing patient selection and decision-making.
Patients And Methods: Cases of NSM with immediate implant-based reconstruction were identified from an institutional database (2009-2019).

Objective: The lack of consensus on the benefits and harms of standard therapies, including surgery (SRx), radiotherapy (RTx), chemotherapy (CTx), and their combinations among early-stage MCC, prompted this study.
Methods: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized and non-randomized studies published between January 01, 1972, and January 31, 2023, and having overall survival (OS), local recurrence (LR), regional recurrence (RR), disease-specific survival (DSS), and/or disease-free survival (DFS) as outcomes was conducted using the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), PubMed (NCBI), Scopus (ELSEVIER), and Web of Science (CLAVIRATE) databases. Hazard ratios (HRs) and their variances were pooled using the inverse variance heterogeneity model.

Background: Acanthamoeba keratitis (AK) is the most challenging corneal infection to treat, with conventional therapies often proving ineffective. While photoactivated chromophore for keratitis-corneal cross-linking (PACK-CXL) with riboflavin/UV-A has shown success in treating bacterial and fungal keratitis, and PACK-CXL with rose bengal/green light has demonstrated promise in fungal keratitis, neither approach has been shown to effectively eradicate AK. This case study explores a novel combined same-session treatment approach using both riboflavin/UV-A and rose bengal/green light in a single procedure.

The latest World Health Organization Classification of Tumors, Fifth Edition, recognizes the invasive encapsulated follicular variant of papillary thyroid carcinoma (IEFVPTC) as a distinct malignant entity rather than a subtype of papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). This reclassification highlights the need to explore potential prognostic differences between IEFVPTC and classic PTC. This study utilized the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database to compare prognoses of patients diagnosed with IEFVPTC and classic PTC between 2004 and 2019.

Bacterial infection of skin wounds leads to serious health problems, including skin defects, inflammatory pain, and even death. To meet the requirements for successful treatment of complicated wounds, a multifunctional dressing is thus highly desirable. In this work, a thermosensitive hydrogel dressing (HBCA) exhibiting injectability, adaptiveness and mild photothermal antibacterial activity was developed for effective infected wound treatment.
