Atalanto-occipital dislocations with type II fractures of the odontoid process are rare, reporting 7 cases for every 784 upper cervical spine injuries, an incidence of <0.3% and are related to a high rate of morbidity and mortality. Regarding C2 fractures, the most common are in the odontoid process, representing 7%, classified by Anderson and D'Alonso according to their level, with the highest rate of pseudarthrosis in zone II of up to 85% are caused mainly by car accidents.

Retrospective case series. The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical outcomes and effectiveness of using 3D printed implants in upper cervical spine and occipitocervical junction surgery. C2 primary tumor patients who required axial en bloc resection and other patients who required partial bone decompression using customized 3D printed implants or fixation devices for surgery were included.

Objective: To analyse patients with recurrent atlanto-axial dislocation and give a criterion of an ideal patient who can benefit from redo surgery.
Methods: This retrospective study was conducted in a tertiary care center, which included 20 patients who failed atlanto-axial surgery from January 2013 to June December 2021. They were evaluated using X-ray, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging examinations, and their clinical data were accessed from the hospital's medical records department and the picture archiving and communication system.
