Falls, a significant health issue among the elderly, often stem from these impairments. This study aims to investigate the impact of different insole materials, specifically cork and silicone, on balance and postural stability in the elderly.

Case: We present a marginal mandibular branch of the facial nerve palsy that occurred in a 55-year-old woman from external compression of a rigid cervical collar. This nerve palsy occurred after less than 24 hours of collar utilization and was treated conservatively with delayed recovery.
Conclusion: A marginal mandibular branch of the facial nerve palsy is a rare complication of cervical collar usage with only 1 other documented case in the literature.

Gait stability can be directly manipulated by exerting forces or moments onto a person, ranging from simple walking sticks to complex wearable robotics. A systematic review of the literature was performed to determine: What is the level of evidence for different types of mechanical manipulations on improving gait stability? The study was registered at PROSPERO (CRD42020180631).

Introduction: The treatment of closed humeral shaft fractures tends to be successful with functional bracing. Treatment failure due to iatrogenic conversion to an open fracture has not been described in the literature. We present a case series of patients that experienced open humeral shaft fractures after initially being treated with functional bracing for closed humeral shaft fractures and describe what factors are associated with this complication.
