Embolization of the aeso-cardiotuberositary varices, by selective catheterization of the coronary vein of the stomach and the posterior gastrics, seems to be valuable palliative treatment in portal hypertension, owing to its relative innocuousness, inspite of a certain number of failures. It is carried out by transhepatic puncture of the portal system or catheterization of the umbilical vein.

To evaluate the feasibility of liver tract embolization after transhepatic biliary drainage using a biodegradable polymer plug (IMPEDE-FX, Shape Memorial Medical, Santa Clara, CA, USA).In a retrospective observational study, 15 plug embolizations were performed in 13 patients at risk for tract-related adverse events (AEs). Risk factors included coagulopathy, cirrhosis, central bile duct puncture, previous drain-related bleeding, malignant obstruction, large tract diameter, or multilevel strictures.

Background: Hepatic artery infusion pump (HAIP) chemotherapy is a locoregional treatment for intrahepatic malignancies. HAIPs are surgically implanted, and the catheter tip is typically inserted into a ligated gastroduodenal artery stump. Potential complications at the catheter insertion site include dehiscence, pseudoaneurysm or extravasation, and adjacent hepatic arterial stenosis and thrombosis.

Ectopic varices can result from portal vein stenosis following pancreaticoduodenectomy with concomitant portal vein resection reconstruction, and they can cause gastrointestinal bleeding. Although they can sometimes be fatal, various treatments have been reported. This report describes a case in which a percutaneous transhepatic approach was used to simultaneously perform variceal embolization and portal vein stenting in which a favorable outcome was achieved.

Purpose: In the current situation of an increasing older adult population with perihilar cholangiocarcinoma (PHCC), the benefits and risks of surgical treatment of PHCC in older people remain controversial. Portal vein embolization (PVE) is a useful preoperative procedure to improve hepatic reserve in the future remnant liver (FRL) and avoid postoperative liver failure after extended hepatectomy for PHCC. This study aimed to evaluate the influence of aging on PVE.

Aim: Compare the efficacy and procedural efficiency of central vascular plug-assisted portal vein embolization (PVE) with absolute ethanol compared to selective PVE.
Materials And Methods: Between 2016 and 2023, patients who underwent ipsilateral percutaneous transhepatic PVE were included. Selective PVE involves serial cannulation and embolization of portal veins.
