Background: Beta-lactams remain the first-line treatment of infections despite the increasing global prevalence of penicillin-resistant/non-susceptible strains. We conducted a cross-sectional household survey in a rural community in northern Vietnam in 2018-2019 to provide prevalence estimates of penicillin non-susceptible (PNSP) carriage and to investigate behavioural and environmental factors associated with PNSP colonization. The data presented will inform the design of a large trial of population-based interventions targeting inappropriate antibiotic use.

Methods: The study that utilised the Lot Quality Assurance Sampling (LQAS) approach was conducted in eight districts of Central Uganda; Kiboga, Kyankwanzi, Mubende, Kasanda, Mityana, Luwero, Nakaseke, and Nakasongola districts. Each district was divided into five supervision areas (SAs).

This study aims to assess the efficacy and safety of newly approved Janus kinase (JAK) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) inhibitors in patients with moderately-to-severely active rheumatoid arthritis (RA) with inadequate response to or intolerance of conventional disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of all placebo-controlled randomized trials assessing baricitinib, sarilumab, and upadacitinib treatment in RA, published in PubMed and CENTRAL (Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials) databases up to October 2023. The study outcomes involved the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) 20%, 50%, and 70% responses, Health Assessment Questionnaire-Disability Index (HAQ-DI), Disease Activity Score in 28 joints (DAS28), serious adverse events, and adverse events leading to drug discontinuation.

Recently, studies have shown that HIV-infected individuals have poorer oral health outcomes, worse dentition, and aggressive forms of periodontitis. This study aims to investigate the dental and periodontal status of HIV-infected patients, the correlation between CD4+ level and the CD4 percentage with dentition, and periodontal status.

Here, we present a rare case of pulmonary actinomycosis triggered by total gastrectomy and heavy alcohol consumption. The patient presented with hemoptysis and a suspected lung mass.
