Simultaneous Concentration and T Mapping of Brain Metabolites by Fast Multi-Echo Spectroscopic Imaging.

NMR Biomed

February 2025

MR Methodology, Department for Diagnostic and Interventional Neuroradiology, University of Bern, Bern, Switzerland.

The purpose of this study was to produce metabolite-specific T and concentration maps in a clinically compatible time frame. A multi-TE 2D MR spectroscopic imaging (MRSI) experiment (multi-echo single-shot MRSI [MESS-MRSI]) deployed truncated and partially sampled multi-echo trains from single scans and was combined with simultaneous multiparametric model fitting. It was tested in vivo for the brain in five healthy subjects.

The prognostic significance of the red blood cell distribution width to albumin ratio (RAR) spans various diseases, yet its utility as a biomarker for hepatitis B virus-related hepatocellular carcinoma (HBV-HCC) remains unclear. We retrospectively studied 1,413 patients with HBV-HCC. Receiver operating characteristic curves identified optimal RAR cut-offs, stratifying patients into H-RAR and L-RAR groups.

Background: Falls are considered one of the leading causes of accidental deaths and nonfatal accidental injuries in older adults. Previous research indicates a 1-in-5 yearly fall incidence among Iranian older adults. To examine specific risk factors within this population, our study aimed to evaluate fall risk factors such as obesity, sarcopenia, functional mobility, and activities of daily living (ADL) scores.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the amount of physical activity, including daily movement, and the factors related to the amount of physical activity undertaken by patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at an outpatient clinic.

Patients And Methods: A self-administered questionnaire was distributed to 111 patients, aged 20 years or older, with type 2 diabetes mellitus, who visited a diabetes outpatient clinic. The amount of physical activity was investigated using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire-Long Version.

Adaptation of Archaeal Communities to Summer Hypoxia in the Sediment of Bohai Sea.

Ecol Evol

January 2025

Tianjin Key Laboratory of Animal and Plant Resistance, Tianjin Key Laboratory of Conservation and Utilization of Animal Diversity, College of Life Science Tianjin Normal University Tianjin China.

Understanding the adaptation of archaea to hypoxia is essential for deciphering the functions and mechanisms of microbes when suffering environmental changes. However, the dynamics and responses of archaea to the sedimentary hypoxia in Bohai Sea are still unclear. In this study, the diversity, composition, and distribution of archaeal community in sediment along an inshore-offshore transect across the oxygen-depleted area in the Bohai Sea were investigated in June, July, and August of 2021 by employing high-throughput sequencing of 16S rRNA gene.
