Introduction: Rumen-protected fat (RPF) is a vital dietary energy source for dairy cows. However, the influences of RPF on rumen volatile fatty acid (VFA) content and bacterial communities in goats are poorly documented.

Methods: In this study, 12 castrated male goats (body weight [BW]: 13.

In this study, we examined the effects of different residual feed intakes (RFIs) on nutrient digestibility and the microbiota of the digestive tract of Dexin fine-wool sheep. Fifty 70-day-old Dexin fine-wool meat lambs were selected as the experimental group and fed in a single pen for 100 days. Based on their mid-term metabolic weight, 100-day average daily weight gain and daily feed intake, the male Dexin lambs were divided into a low-RFI group (13), a mid-RFI group (18), and a high-RFI group (11).

The detection of skeletal remains using human remain detection dogs (HRD) is often reported anecdotally by handlers to be a challenge. Limited studies have been conducted to determine the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emitted from bones, particularly when there is limited organic matter remaining. This study aimed to determine the VOCs emitted from dry, weathered bones and examine the detection performance of HRD dogs on these bones when used as training aids.

When ingested as part of a blood meal, the antiparasitic drug ivermectin kills mosquitoes, making it a candidate for mass drug administration (MDA) in humans and livestock to reduce malaria transmission. When administered to livestock, most ivermectin is excreted unmetabolized in the dung within 5 days post administration. Presence of ivermectin, has been shown to adversely affect dung colonizers and dung degradation in temperate settings; however, those findings may not apply to, tropical environment, where ivermectin MDA against malaria would occur.

Chinese milk vetch (CMV) is widely recognized as the leading leguminous green manure utilized in the rice-green manure rotation system throughout southern China. While bacteria that form symbiotic relationships with CMV are responsible for fixing a significant portion of nitrogen (N) within agroecosystems. diazotrophic organisms play an essential role in the N cycle and enhance the pool of N readily accessible to plants.
