Objective: Patients with chronic kidney disease suffer from immune dysfunction, increasing susceptibility to infections. The aim of the study was to investigate air contamination with respiratory viruses in a dialysis unit at a quaternary hospital using molecular detection techniques and to analyze airflow dynamics through computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations for a comprehensive assessment of air transmission risks.
Methods: We conducted dialysis unit air sampling using AerosolSense™ samplers.

Introduction: Despite the established influence of gut bacteria, the role of the gut virome in modulating colorectal cancer (CRC) patient chemotherapy response remains poorly understood. In this study, we investigated the impact of antiviral (AV) drug-induced gut virome dysbiosis on the efficacy of 5-FU in CRC treatment.
Methods: Using a subcutaneous CRC mouse model, we assessed tumor growth and immune responses following AV treatment, fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT), and 5-FU administration.

Nasopharyngeal cancer (NPC), although rare in young individuals worldwide, is significantly influenced by the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). Considering EBV's widespread prevalence, understanding its role in NPC's future occurrence, disease progression, clinical symptoms, metastatic tendencies, and prognosis is crucial. The present study investigated the role of the Simpson grade system, MIB-1 immunohistochemical marker, meningioma location and grade in the risk of recurrence. Between January, 2008 and January, 2018, the present study retrospectively evaluated all patients undergoing craniotomy for the resection of a histopathologically confirmed meningioma. Patients with neurofibromatosis, acoustic neurinomas and radiation treatment prior to surgery were excluded.
