Thoracic ultrasonography (TUS) has emerged as a critical tool in the diagnosis and management of respiratory diseases in cattle, particularly bovine respiratory disease (BRD), which is one of the most economically significant health issues in feedyard operations. The objective of this review is to explore TUS in veterinary medicine, including the historical development, methodologies, and clinical applications for diagnosing and prognosing respiratory diseases. This review also emphasizes the importance of operator training, noting that even novice operators can achieve diagnostic consistency with proper instructions.

Malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) is a rare neoplasm with increasing incidence and mortality rates. Although recent advances have improved the overall prognosis, they have not had an important impact on survival of patients with MPM, such that more effective treatments are needed. Intercostal artery aneurysms are a type of vascular abnormality that poses a potential risk of rupture, which could lead to life-threatening hemothorax. This case report presents a young male who experienced a rupture of an intercostal artery aneurysm and subsequently suffered from a massive hemothorax after engaging in strenuous physical activity. The current case study sheds light on the difficulties and lessons learned in managing such cases in peripheral settings, including the dilemma of whether to insert an intercostal chest drain (ICD).

We report a case of a 74-year-old female with a retrosternal goiter undergoing video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) for a left lung lower lobectomy, necessitating one-lung ventilation (OLV). We encountered a highly unusual complication: contralateral tension pneumothorax. Forty-five minutes into the surgical procedure, a sudden cardiovascular collapse occurred.

Cell therapies, including tumor antigen-loaded dendritic cells used as therapeutic cancer vaccines, offer treatment options for patients with malignancies. We evaluated the feasibility, safety, immunogenicity, and clinical activity of adjuvant vaccination with Wilms' tumor protein (WT1) mRNA-electroporated autologous dendritic cells (WT1-mRNA/DC) in a single-arm phase I/II clinical study of patients with advanced solid tumors receiving standard therapy. Disease status and immune reactivity were evaluated after 8 weeks and 6 months.
