The binding ability of human serum albumin (HSA) on active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) is one of the most important parameters in the early stages of drug discovery. In this study, an immobilized HSA-based tool was developed for the rapid and easy in vitro screening of API binding. The work explored the serious incompleteness in the identification of HSA used for in vitro screening published in the last five years.

Superhydrophobic surfaces find applications in numerous biomedical scenarios, requiring the repellence of biofluids and biomolecules. Plastron, the trapped air between a superhydrophobic surface and a wetting liquid, plays a pivotal role in biofluid repellency. A key challenge, however, is the often short-lived plastron stability in biofluids and the lack of knowledge surrounding it.

This study aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the acute and subacute safety and phytochemical profile of pomegranate leaves, aligning with the growing interest in sustainable, plant-based therapeutics. The phytochemical composition, the acute and subacute toxicity of a spray-dried hydroethanolic extract from pomegranate leaves (SDE) were investigated using experimental animal models. Utilizing UV-visible spectrophotometry and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS), a diverse array of tannins and flavonoids, totaling 38 compounds, was identified.

Behavioral dysfunctions in dogs represent one of the main social concerns, since they can endanger animals and human-dog relationship. Together with the trigger stimulus (human, animal, place, scent, auditory stimuli, objects), dogs can experience stressful conditions, either in multiple settings or unique situations, more often turning into generalized fear. Such a dysfunctional behavior can be associated with genetic susceptibility, environmental factors, traumatic experiences, and medical conditions.
