The most important soil-transmitted helminths (STHs) affecting humans are roundworms, whipworms, and hookworms, with a large proportion of the world's population infected with one or more of these intestinal parasites. On top of that, concurrent infections with several viruses, bacteria, protozoa, and other helminths such as trematodes are common in STH-endemic areas. STHs are potent immunomodulators, but knowledge about the effects of STH infection on the direction and extent of coinfections with other pathogens and is incomplete.

: Tumor associated macrophages (TAMs) are critical components in regulating the immune statuses of the tumor microenvironments. Although TAM has been intensively studied, it is unclear how mitochondrial proteins such as AGK regulate the TAMs' function. : We investigated the AGK function in TAMs using macrophage-specific deficient mice with B16 and LLC syngeneic tumor models.

Background: Currently, traditional blood biomarkers such as neuron-specific enolase (NSE), carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), squamous cell carcinoma antigen (SCCA) etc. are mostly elevated in the late stage of tumour, and patients have already lost the chance of tumour eradication when the relevant indexes are found to be elevated. Therefore, there is a need for blood biomarkers with higher sensitivity, better specificity, and better accessibility.

Introduction: Levels of plant-based aeroallergens are rising as growing seasons lengthen and intensify with anthropogenic climate change. Increased exposure to pollens could increase risk for mortality from respiratory causes, particularly among older adults. We determined short-term, lag associations of four species classes of pollen (ragweed, deciduous trees, grass pollen and evergreen trees) with respiratory mortality (all cause, chronic and infectious related) in Michigan, USA.

Because of the close membrane apposition, there is rapid exclusion of CD45, and therefore LCK activation. Much less is known about whether spatial regulation of the intracellular face dictates LCK activity and TCR signal transduction.
