Background: The rise of antibiotic-resistant pathogens has intensified the search for novel antimicrobial agents. This study aimed to isolate from local soil samples and evaluate its antimicrobial properties, along with optimizing the production of bioactive compounds.

Methods: Soil samples were collected from local regions, processed, and analysed for Streptomyces strains isolation using morphological characteristics and molecular identification through 16S rRNA gene PCR assay.

Background: Computed tomography (CT)-guided hook-wire localization is currently the most commonly used technique for preoperative localization of pulmonary nodules in clinical practice. With the increasing incidence of multiple primary lung cancers and the increasing occurrence of second primary lung cancers or local recurrences after lung cancer surgery, some patients need to undergo an ipsilateral or contralateral second pulmonary resection. In order to reduce the surgical difficulty of the second operation and accurately guide the surgical resection, preoperative localization of some nodules is necessary.

Congenital factor VII (FVII) deficiency is a rare coagulation disorder that increases the risk of bleeding complications during surgery. Although laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) is the most common metabolic bariatric surgery (MBS), it is rarely performed in patients with congenital coagulation disorders such as FVII deficiency, due to the high risk of intraoperative and postoperative bleeding. We report the case of a 57-year-old female with class II obesity (BMI 37.

Mycodiversity in a micro-habitat: twelve species, including four new taxa, isolated from uredinia of coffee leaf rust, .

Fungal Syst Evol

December 2024

Departamento de Fitopatologia, Universidade Federal de Viçosa, Viçosa, MG, 36570-900, Brazil.

During surveys in the centres of origin of the coffee leaf rust (CLR), in Africa, as well as in its exotic range in Brazil, 23 isolates of the genus were obtained from uredinial pustules. Using a phylogenetic analysis of all isolates involving a combination of partial sequences of the internal transcribed spacer region of rDNA (ITS) and two gene regions: actin ( and translation elongation factor-1α (), 12 species were delimited; including four new species - , , and . GCPSR criteria were employed for species recognition, supported by morphological and cultural characters.

Coinfection of and porcine circovirus type 3 is linked to reproductive failure in pig farms.

Vet World

November 2024

Department of Infectious Diseases and Veterinary Public Health, Faculty of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine, Nong Lam University, HCMC, Vietnam.

Background And Aim: Reproductive disorders in swine herds pose significant challenges to pig breeding due to both infectious and non-infectious factors. In large-scale pig farming, coinfections are increasingly common, affecting sow health and herd productivity. This study aimed to determine occurrence and coinfection patterns of s and porcine circovirus type 3 in Vietnamese pig farms and to evaluate their association with reproductive disorders and clinical signs in affected herds.
