Background: Photoperiod sensitivity is among the most important agronomic traits of rice, as it determines local and seasonal adaptability and plays pivotal roles in determining yield and other key agronomic characteristics. By controlling the photoperiod, early-maturing rice can be cultivated to shorten the breeding cycle, thereby reducing the risk of yield losses due to unpredictable climate change. CO absorption-microalgae conversion (CAMC) system is a promising carbon capture and utilization technology. However, the use of HCO as a carbon source often led to a slower growth rate of microalgae, which also limited the application of CAMC system. In this study, the assimilation efficiency of HCO in CAMC system was improved through mixotrophic, and the potential mechanism was investigated.

F-ATPase is a universal multisubunit enzyme and the smallest-known motor that, fueled by the process of ATP hydrolysis, rotates in 120 steps. A central question is how the elementary chemical steps occurring in the three catalytic sites are coupled to the mechanical rotation. Here, we performed cold chase promotion experiments and measured the rates and extents of hydrolysis of preloaded bound ATP and promoter ATP bound in the catalytic sites.

How bacteria transition into growth arrest as part of stationary phase has been well-studied, but our knowledge of features that help cells to stay alive in the following days and weeks is incomplete. Most studies have used heterotrophic bacteria that are growth-arrested by depletion of substrates used for both biosynthesis and energy generation, making is difficult to disentangle the effects of the two. In contrast, when grown anaerobically in light, the phototrophic bacterium Rhodopseudomonas palustris generates ATP from light via cyclic photophosphorylation, and builds biomolecules from organic substrates, such as acetate.
