Arterial spin labelling (ASL) enables non-invasive quantification of regional brain perfusion using MRI. ASL was used in the Reducing Pathology in Alzheimer's Disease through Angiotensin TaRgeting (RADAR) multi-centre trial to pilot the assessment of the effects of the anti-hypertension drug losartan on cerebral blood flow (CBF). In the multi-centre setting, disparities in ASL implementation on scanners from different manufacturers lead to inherent differences in measured CBF and its associated parameters (e.

Background/purpose: Studies have demonstrated a relation between hypercholesterolemia and development of apical periodontitis (AP), but the underlying mechanism is uncertain. 27-hydroxycholesterol (27HC), produced by cytochrome P450 27A1 (CYP27A1)-catalyzed hydroxylation of cholesterol, is known to possess pro-inflammatory activity. Felodipine is an anti-hypertensive agent able to inhibit CYP27A1.

Cosmetic filler-induced hair loss: case series and literature review.

J Dermatolog Treat

December 2024

Department of Dermatology, Beijing TongRen Hospital, Capital Medical University, Beijing, China.

Aim: To present three cases of filler-induced alopecia (FIA) and summarize the current knowledge of its clinical features, mechanisms and treatments.

Methods: In the first two cases, two females developed well-defined triangular patches of hair loss after hyaluronic acid (HA) injections, and received corticosteriod injections with topical 5% minoxidil. The third case described another female who experienced alopecia areata-like hair loss after autologous fat grafting, and received combined therapies including corticosteriod, 5% minoxidil and microneedling.

Enzymatic hydrolysis approach is commonly employed for preparation of active peptides, while the limited purity and yield of produced peptides hinder further development of action mechanisms. This study presents the biotechnological approach for the efficient production of recombinant angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitory peptide LYPVK and investigates its potential antihypertensive action mechanism. DNA encoding sequence of recombinant peptide was designed to form in tandem, which was expressed in Escherichia coli BL21 (DE3).

Drought stress severely damages wheat growth and photosynthesis, and plants at the grain-filling stage are the most sensitive to drought throughout the entire period of development. Exogenous spraying of sodium nitroprusside (SNP) can alleviate the damage to wheat caused by drought stress, but the mechanism regulating the proline pathway remains unknown. Two wheat cultivars, drought-sensitive Zhoumai 18 and drought-tolerant Zhengmai 1860, were used as materials when the plants were cultivated to the grain-filling stage.
