Seizures can lead to cardiac dysfunction. Multiple pathways contribute to this phenomenon, of which the chaperone sigma-1 receptor (S1R) signaling represents a promising nexus between the abnormalities seen in both epilepsy and ensuing cardiac complications. The study explored the potential of Berberine (BER), a promising S1R agonist, in treating epilepsy and associated cardiac abnormalities in a pentylenetetrazol (PTZ) kindling rat model of epilepsy.

However, there are few reports describing the interactions between levetiracetam and rocuronium. This case report describes the delayed onset of rocuronium in an adult patient with intractable epilepsy on long-term levetiracetam therapy.

Hyperhomocysteinemia (HHcy) is an independent risk factor for atherosclerosis. Ischemic stroke and heart disease, coronary heart disease, and cardiovascular disease are events resulting from long-lasting and silent atherosclerosis. This paper deals with the synthesis of homocysteine (Hcy), causes of HHcy, mechanism of HHcy-induced atherosclerosis, and treatment of HHcy.
