Objective: Patients with chronic kidney disease suffer from immune dysfunction, increasing susceptibility to infections. The aim of the study was to investigate air contamination with respiratory viruses in a dialysis unit at a quaternary hospital using molecular detection techniques and to analyze airflow dynamics through computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations for a comprehensive assessment of air transmission risks.

Methods: We conducted dialysis unit air sampling using AerosolSense™ samplers.

Pair housing presents an alternative to individual or larger group housing systems, though the effects of different pairing ages on calf welfare are not well understood. In this study, we examined the impact of pairing age on the performance, health, and behavior of dairy calves. A total of 140 Holstein female calves (n = 70 pairs) were used, paired at 3 ages: Early (6-7 d; 48 calves), Intermediate (29-30 d; 48 calves), and Late pairing (49-50 d; 44 calves).

Background: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is associated with hypoxia-induced neuronal impairment and dysfunction-key risk factors for the pathogeneses of age-related neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease (AD). This study examined longitudinal associations between OSA severity and CSF biomarkers associated with AD, synaptic dysfunction, and neuroinflammation in a sample of late-middle-aged adults with increased risk for AD.

Method: N=25 cognitively unimpaired adults (64% female, mean age 65.

Objective: Endoscopic arytenoid abduction lateropexy (EAAL) is a minimally invasive surgical technique for the immediate management of bilateral vocal fold palsy (BVFP). Specifically, it achieves a stable and adequate airway by lateralizing the arytenoid cartilage without resecting laryngeal structures. Thus, this study evaluated the effect of EAAL on swallowing in cases of BVFP.
