The evaluation of the wide variety of allelochemicals present in allelopathic plants allows the detection of safer bioherbicides with new mechanisms of action. This study tested two phenolic compounds of essential oil (2-Methoxyphenol and 2,6-Di--butyl-4-methylphenol), which are commercially available. At 0.

Chemical weed control is a significant agricultural concern, and reliance on a limited range of herbicide action modes has increased resistant weed species, many of which use C4 metabolism. As a result, the identification of novel herbicidal agents with low toxicity targeting C4 plants becomes imperative. An assessment was conducted on the impact of 3-cyanobenzoic acid on the growth and photosynthetic processes of maize (), a representative C4 plant, cultivated hydroponically over 14 days.

Synthetic elicitors are non-toxic chemicals and safe for the environment when applied to plants in a variety of ways. They have been shown to interact with defense mechanisms of plants and cause the production of a wide range of valuable secondary metabolites, both volatile and non-volatile. Plants primed with chemical elicitors are indirectly induced to increase their resistance to herbivore attacks in addition to imparting tolerance or resistance to nearby plants against biotic stresses.

The use of chemical herbicides induces negative impacts on the environment, animals, and human health. It also leads to the development of herbicide-resistant weeds. In this context, natural and efficacious herbicides are highly sought after.

Novel antimicrobials are urgently needed to combat methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections. This study explores the potential of biosurfactants derived from Bacillus rugosus HH2 as a novel antibacterial agent against MRSA. The biosurfactant, identified as surfactin, demonstrated surface-active properties, reducing surface tension to 37.
