Asymmetry is a natural characteristic of Parkinson's disease (PD), which can be used to distinguish PD from atypical parkinsonism. Chemical exchange saturation transfer (CEST) has demonstrated value in reflecting the subtle changes related to neuron loss and abnormal protein accumulation in PD but has not been used to investigate asymmetry in PD. This study aimed to examine asymmetrical changes in the mesencephalic nucleus of PD patients with motor asymmetry using four-pool CEST analysis and to explore the relationship between imaging asymmetry and motor asymmetry.

This case highlights the acute onset of VP following a stroke, contributing to the understanding of VP's varied presentations and the challenges in its diagnosis. A 54-year-old male with a history of cerebrovascular disease presented with behavioral changes and reduced activity, initially raising the suspicion of a central nervous system infection.

The first postmortem neuropathological findings of a hemiparkinsonism and hemiatrophy (HPHA) patient are presented. A 50-year-old man developed resting tremors affecting the right hand and leg, followed by mild clumsiness of the right hand. On examination, he exhibited muscle atrophy of the right leg extremity, accompanied by right-sided parkinsonism.

Background: Alleviation of motor impairment by aerobic exercise (AE) in Parkinson's disease (PD) points to a CNS response that could be targeted by therapeutic approaches, but recovery of striatal dopamine (DA) or tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) has been inconsistent in rodent studies.

Objective: To increase translation of AE, 3 components were implemented into AE design to determine if recovery of established motor impairment, concomitant with >80% striatal DA and TH loss, was possible. We also evaluated if serum levels of neurofilament light (NfL) and glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), blood-based biomarkers of disease severity in human PD, were affected.
