Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is a multisystemic disease with a multifactorial pathogenesis involving dietary, environmental, and genetic factors. Previous mouse models suggested that circadian misalignment may additionally influence its development as it influences metabolism in diverse organs including the liver. Further, data from sleep questionnaires proved sleep-wake disruption in patients with MASLD.

Time-Restricted Feeding Reinforces Gut Rhythmicity by Restoring Rhythms in Intestinal Metabolism in a Jetlag Mouse Model.

Gut Peptide Research Lab, Translational Research for Gastrointestinal Disorders (TARGID), KU Leuven, Leuven, Belgium. Electronic address:

Background & Aims: Circadian disturbances result in adverse health effects, including gastrointestinal symptoms. We investigated which physiological pathways in jejunal mucosa were disrupted during chronic jetlag and prevented during time-restricted feeding (TRF). Enteroids from Bmal1 and Bmal1 mice were used to replicate the processes that were affected by chronic jetlag and rescued by TRF.

Background: Diabetes can be detected at the primary health-care level, and effective treatments lower the risk of complications. There are insufficient data on the coverage of treatment for diabetes and how it has changed. We estimated trends from 1990 to 2022 in diabetes prevalence and treatment for 200 countries and territories.

Circadian rhythms, which regulate essential physiological and behavioral processes, are crucial for maintaining overall health and well-being. However, disruptions to these rhythms, particularly due to trans-meridian travel and shift work, can lead to significant health issues, including jet lag, metabolic imbalances, and neuropsychiatric disorders. In this systematic review, conducted in line with Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Metanalysis (PRISMA) 2020 guidelines, we explore the effectiveness of various interventions aimed at realigning circadian rhythms disrupted by such factors.

Background: Coronary artery disease (CAD) has one of the highest mortality rates in humans worldwide. Single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) provides clinicians with myocardial metabolic information non-invasively. However, there are some limitations to interpreting SPECT images performed by physicians or automatic quantitative approaches.
