Background: Simultaneous pancreas-kidney (SPK) transplantation is an effective treatment option for type 1 diabetes mellitus and concurrent end-stage kidney disease. However, the diabetogenic effects of immunosuppression can counteract the beneficial effects of sustained normoglycemia. Long-term metabolic trends that reflect cardiovascular risk are reported poorly in the literature.

Aim: Attenuated insulin-sensitivity (IS) is a characteristic of type 2 diabetes (T2D) and is closely linked to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). In recent years, many surrogate markers of IS have emerged to predict NAFLD. A natural log transformation of the glucose disposal rate (log GDR) has been proposed as a new model for IS in patients with T2D.

Purpose: Our study aimed to discern disparities in metabolic, hormonal profiles, and comorbidities among patients with pituitary Cushing (PC), adrenal Cushing (AC), and Mild autonomous cortisol secretion (MACS).
Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis involving 76 patients diagnosed with PC ( = 26), AC ( = 21), and MACS ( = 29) at our clinic. We compared the groups' demographic data, clinical characteristics, biochemical profiles, hormonal analyses, and surgical interventions.

Background: Development of acute kidney injury (AKI) in patients with sepsis is associated with increased mortality, highlighting the importance of early detection and management. However, baseline creatinine or urine output measurements are required for AKI diagnosis, which can be challenging in emergency departments (EDs). We aimed to evaluate the association between urinary biomarkers and the AKI diagnosis or 30-day survival status in patients with sepsis in the ED.

Background: Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is the leading cause of chronic kidney disease globally. Recent research has identified insulin-like growth factor-binding proteins 2 (IGFBP2) and 4 (IGFBP4) as potential biomarkers for DKD. Overactivation of the complement pathway in DKD remains poorly understood.
