Background: The risk factors for fracture-related nerve injury in pediatric Monteggia fracture-dislocations are not well understood. As such, this study aimed to determine the incidence of, and preoperative risk factors for, nerve injury in pediatric Monteggia fracture-dislocations.
Methods: Patients aged ≤18 years with acute Monteggia or Monteggia-equivalent fracture-dislocations that underwent reduction in the operating room, including closed reduction and casting under general anesthesia and internal fixation of the ulnar fracture with or without opening the radiocapitellar joint, from 2011 to 2021 were retrospectively identified.

Background: Inferior subluxation of humeral head following shoulder trauma, osteosynthesis or rotator cuff repair has been considered as a benign or temporary phenomenon due to muscle fatigue or capsular injury. However, the clinical impact is still unclear as to their occurrence after plating for proximal humerus fractures. This study aims to investigate their patterns and identify associated risk factors as well as clinical outcomes.

Background And Objective: Neurofibromatosis-1 (NF1) dystrophic scoliosis is a challenging disease to manage surgically, with multiplanar curves progressing rapidly and unpredictably. Conservative management with bracing is often unsuccessful, and many patients necessitate instrumented fusion to halt progression of their curves. In rare cases, patients can present with spontaneous vertebral subluxation, significantly complicating the surgical management of this already complex disease process.
