Background: Thoracic aortic aneurysm (TAA) occurs due to pathological aortal dilation, and both individuals with normal tricuspid aortic valves (TAV) or abnormal bicuspid aortic valves (BAV), the latter being a congenital condition, are at risk. However, some differences are present between TAA/BAV and TAA/TAV with respect to their pathophysiological processes and molecular mechanisms, but their exact nature is still mostly unknown. Therefore, it is necessary to elucidate TAA developmental differences among BAV vs.

The observation of two precursor groups of the early stem cells (Groups I and II) leads to the realization that a first amount of fetal stem cells (Group I) migrate from the AMG (Aortal-Mesonephric-Gonadal)-region into the aorta and its branching vessels. A second group (Group II) gains quite a new significance during human development. This group presents a specific developmental step which is found only in the human.

Background: Both spontaneous SMA dissection and anatomical variants of GIT vasculature are well known entities. We present a case initially diagnosed as an SMA dissection on CT, but upon detailed review of the imaging findings was considered to be incompletely fused ventral segmental arteries--a rare anatomic variant not well described before. This finding is clinically significant, as it can mimic a vascular dissection and such a wrong diagnosis will lead to unnecessary investigation and intervention.

Only 3 patients (11%) had the typical form of inclusions, 23 cases (89% of infected patients) had persistent form of inclusions in aortal endothelium.
