Objective: To determine whether a pregnancy-adapted clinical and D-dimer-based algorithm, termed the "YEARS algorithm," can reduce the need for radiological imaging, including lung scintigraphy in pregnant women with suspected pulmonary embolism (PE).

Patients And Methods: This retrospective study included all pregnant women with suspected PE between January 2014 and September 2019 who have undergone D-dimer testing and radiological imaging (computed tomography pulmonary angiography or lung perfusion scans) at presentation. Three criteria from the YEARS algorithm were assessed: clinical signs of deep vein thrombosis, haemoptysis, and whether PE was clinically considered as the most likely diagnosis.

Clin Appl Thromb Hemost

April 2018

1 Department of Osteopathic Medical Specialties, College of Osteopathic Medicine, Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI, USA.

The purpose was to determine whether young women in the emergency department who received computed tomographic (CT) pulmonary angiograms were evaluated to receive lower dose imaging or no imaging, recognizing that the risks of radiation are particularly high in young women. This was a retrospective cohort investigation of women aged 18 to 29 years seen for suspected acute pulmonary embolism in emergency departments of 5 regional hospitals from May 1, 2015 to April 30, 2016. Computed tomographic (CT) pulmonary angiograms were obtained in 379 young women.

Unlabelled: There are few data on prevalence of hepatopulmonary syndrome (HPS) in children with chronic liver disease (CLD). This prospective study evaluated the prevalence and diagnostic procedures of HPS in Egyptian children with CLD. One hundred twenty (120) children with CLD were subjected to room-air pulse oximetry in supine and upright position, contrast enhanced echocardiography (CEE) and technetium-99m-labeled macroaggregated albumin (99mTc-MAA) perfusion lung scan.
