Background: Repair of the regurgitant bicuspid aortic valve is an attractive alternative to valve replacement. Although good long-term outcomes have been reported, postoperative aortic stenosis remains a major late cause of repair failure in bicuspid aortic valves. Sinus plication is effective for creating a more symmetrical commissural angle, leading to a decrease in the mean transvalvular pressure gradient.

As there is limited research on patient factors affecting functional outcomes in conservatively managed patients with DRFs, this study aimed to find predictive factors for functional outcomes in such patients.
Methods: Patients with DRFs satisfying the inclusion criteria were managed with closed reduction and slab followed by cast application.
Background: Achalasia is a motility disorder of the esophagus and depending on its type, esophageal tubular hypo- or hypermotility can cause typical symptoms, such as dysphagia, chest pain, weight loss, or regurgitation. Clinical symptoms during initial diagnosis as well as over the course of therapy can be measured by the Eckardt score. Diagnostics include high-resolution manometry (HR manometry), (timed barium) esophagogram, upper gastrointestinal endoscopy, multiple rapid swallow response, and Endo-FLIP measurement.

The initial surgery involved a median sternotomy and cardiopulmonary bypass for tumor excision. Sternal closure was achieved using six titanium wires, with the lowermost wire noted to be slightly elevated from the sternum immediately post-operation.
