Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) is a safe and effective procedure for the treatment of aortic stenosis. With the recently broadened indications, there is a larger cohort of patients likely to outlive their first transcatheter heart valve (THV). This review discusses relevant lifetime planning considerations, focusing on the utility of preprocedural computed tomography imaging to help implanters future-proof their patients who are likely to outlive their first valve.

Systems consolidation has mostly been treated as a neural construct defined by the time-dependent change in memory representation from the hippocampus (HPC) to other structures, primarily the neocortex. Here, we identify and evaluate the explicit and implicit premises that underlie traditional or standard models and theories of systems consolidation based on evidence from research on humans and other animals. We use the principle that changes in neural representation over time and experience are accompanied by corresponding changes in psychological representations, and vice versa, to argue that each of the premises underlying traditional or standard models and theories of systems consolidation is found wanting.

As patient longevity continues to improve, the rate of lower limb revision arthroplasties will continue to increase as patients outlive the expiration of their implants. With continued bone loss and reduced stability, there is a limit to the number of revision operations that can be performed. Total femoral arthroplasty (TFA) is an increasingly popular limb-salvaging alternative that can restore some degree of daily function to patients.

Background: Currently, inequality in life expectancy across gender makes women outlive men. Adult women transit towards menopause around midlife accompanied by a series of natural physiological changes leading to several conditions such as osteoporosis, depression, and urinary incontinence, which puts them at a higher risk of having multimorbidity. Multimorbidity is often associated with poorer quality of life, leading to deteriorated work productivity and associated economic loss in midlife.

Background: The extant literature on gender differentials in health in developed countries suggests that women outlive men at all ages, but women report poorer health than men. It is well established that Indian women live longer than men, but few studies have been conducted to understand the gender dimension in self-rated health and self-reported disability. The present study investigates gender differentials in self-rated health (SRH) and self-reported disability (SRD) among adults in India, using a nationally representative data.
