Objective: For patients with contraindications to hormone therapy, the absence of effective treatments for ovarian dysfunction post chemotherapy represents a critical issue requiring resolution. Local administration of mitochondria may enhance ovarian function in premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) by ameliorating diminished mitochondrial activity. Nevertheless, there is a paucity of literature on the efficacy of mitochondrial transplantation through intravenous injection, a less invasive and more convenient method than local injection, for the improvement of ovarian function in POI following chemotherapy.

Introduction: Cervical dysplasia is a precursor lesion of cervical cancer, one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in women, especially in developing countries. This study aimed to identify the risk factors associated with the development of cervical dysplasia in women treated at the Santa María del Socorro Hospital in Ica, Peru, between 2017 and 2019.

Methods: An observational case-control study was conducted with 92 cases of women with confirmed high-grade intraepithelial lesion and 184 controls with consecutive negative results in Pap smears.

Background: Alzheimer's affects women 2:1 compared to men, suggesting sex-specific factors driving risk. Menopause, a female-specific phenomenon, induces a multi-system response across endocrine, metabolic, and immune-inflammatory systems. Despite known effects on these systems, the impact on the brain and AD risk remains incompletely understood, limiting preventative options.

Servicio de Ginecología y Obstetricia, Hospital Universitario Torrecárdenas, GAEPI-VPH (Grupo Andaluz para el Estudio y la Prevención de la Infección por VPH), Almería, Spain.

Infection with Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) shows a higher risk of infection by Human papillomavirus (HPV). We aim to provide evidence about the effect of a -based vaginal gel (Papilocare®) for treating HPV in women with HIV. Women ≥25 years coinfected by endocervical HPV and with low-grade abnormal cervicovaginal cytology were treated for 6 months with Papilocare® in this observational, prospective, non-controlled pilot study.

Vaginal Transcriptional Signatures of the Neutrophil-Driven Immune Response Correlate With Clinical Severity During Recurrent Vulvovaginal Candidiasis.

January 2025

Department of Medicine Solna, Division of Infectious Diseases, Karolinska Institutet, Department of Infectious Diseases, Karolinska University Hospital, Center for Molecular Medicine, Stockholm, Sweden.

Problem: Recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis (RVVC) affects 5%-10% of all women, negatively impacting their reproductive health and quality of life. Herein, we investigated the molecular effects of RVVC on the vaginal mucosa of otherwise healthy women.

Method Of Study: Gene expression analysis was performed on vaginal tissue biopsies from women with RVVC, including those with a current episode of vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC, n = 19) and women between infections (culture negative RVVC [CNR], n = 8); women asymptomatically colonized with Candida albicans (asymptomatic [AS], n = 7); and healthy controls (n = 18).
