Perfusion pressure in ophthalmic vessels was measured by computer-aided ophthalmodynamography in health, stenoses of the internal carotid artery, and open-angle glaucoma. A total of 70 subjects were examined. Stenoses of the internal carotid artery are associated with a noticeable reduction of perfusion pressure on the side of stenosis.

A new method for the examination of choroidal morphology and hemodynamics by SLO-ICG videoangiography under induced hypertension by ocular ophthalmodynamography is presented. In 17 normal subjects, 32 patients suffering from exudative age-related macular degeneration and 13 patients suffering from subretinal fibrosis, the arterial blood vessels of the choroid were demonstrated in detail angiographically. Perfusion pressures of posterior ciliary arteries at their entry into the eye were also estimated.

[The functional effect of internal carotid TEA on ocular hemodynamics].

Angiologia

March 1993

Cátedra de Cirugía Vascular, Universidad de Bolonia, Italia.

Fifteen patients with a stenosis of the internal carotid artery superior than a 70% were studied in order to analyze the effects of TEA on the ocular hemodynamics. Analysis was made by ophthalmodynamography and electrofunctional studies. An improvement of the ocular hemodynamics was found, particularly by ophthalmodynamography and visual evoked potentials.

Aetiopathogenesis, clinical picture, laboratorical and functional diagnostic methods of ten patients suffering from Takayasu's arteritis out of 1164 patients suspicious of cerebrovascular insufficiency are described. The combined use of Dopplersonography, ophthalmodynamometry and ophthalmodynamography permit in all cases the assessment of vascular pathology in supraaortic arteries. The specific diagnosis was made in connection which clinical, anamnestical and paraclinical findings.

Twenty-three patients presenting with clinical and angiological signs of temporal arteritis were examined by ODG and DUSG. While the results of ODG were positive in all 23 patients, DUSG failed to furnish diagnostic evidence of temporal arteritis. Findings with DUSG were positive in only 9 out of 23 patients.
