We study resonance redistribution mechanisms inside a hot vapor cell. This is achieved by pumping cesium atoms on the 6S→6P resonance and subsequently probing the velocity distribution of the 6P population by a linear absorption experiment on the 6P→16S or 6P→15D transitions at 514 nm and 512 nm, respectively. We demonstrate that despite the existence of thermalization processes, traces of the initial velocity selection, imposed by the pump, survive in hyperfine levels of the intermediate (6P) state.

Radioactive cesium released into the atmosphere caused by the Fukushima Dai-ichi Nuclear Power Plant accident in March 2011 has contaminated the surrounding area. We confirmed the applicability of in-situ methods to evaluate the depth distribution of Cs by employing the ratio of Compton-scattering and photo-peak components (r) obtained from measured gamma-ray spectra. In the present study, we applied the in-situ method to farmlands in Fukushima Prefecture whose sites were disturbed by decontamination and plowing operations.

This communication represents the chemical alternative to the previous two papers dealing with the influence of positively charged alkali cations on the adsorption properties of the series of the standard surfactant system of alkali-perfluorocarbon octanoates. Now, this contribution describes the adsorption properties of the negatively charged cationic surfactant series of trimethyldodecyl-ammonium halides. In our latest contributions, we have put forward a new model of adsorption of ionic surfactants.

The rapid development of GaAs photocathodes has led to an increased focus on the attainment of high quantum efficiency. Three types of exponential-doping structures with a high to low doping concentration distribution from the interior to the surface are proposed for reflective GaAs emission layers. These three structures generate different built-in electric fields that facilitate photoelectron emission.
