Introduction: Treatment of type 2 diabetes (T2D) remains a significant challenge because of its multifactorial nature and complex metabolic pathways. There is growing interest in finding new therapeutic targets that could lead to safer and more effective treatment options. Takeda G protein-coupled receptor 5 (TGR5) is a promising antidiabetic target that plays a key role in metabolic regulation, especially in glucose homeostasis and energy expenditure.

Platelet-derived growth factor alpha (PDGFRA) plays a significant role in various malignant tumors. PDGFRA expression boosts thyroid cancer cell proliferation and metastasis. Radiorefractory thyroid cancer is poorly differentiated, very aggressive, and resistant to radioiodine therapy.

Vaccination plays a crucial role in safeguarding individuals with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) from potential epidemics. In light of the resurgence of COVID-19 in China, unvaccinated IBD patients are vulnerable to infection and potentially serious complications. The aim of this study is to assess the vaccination uptake and willingness among IBD patients, as well as to explore the factors influencing their decision to decline vaccination.

The fermented foods microbiota, whose community structures evolve through a succession of different microbial groups, play a central role in fermented food production. The texture and flavor, functions, shelf-life and safety, are largely determined by the interactions among bacteria and yeast within these communities. Although much indispensable work has described the microbial composition and succession in various fermentation foods, yet the specific microbial interactions involved are not well understood.

Periweissella beninensis LMG 25373, belonging to the recently established Periweissella genus, exhibits unique motility and high adhesion capabilities, indicating significant probiotic potential, including resilience under simulated gastrointestinal conditions. This study demonstrates for the first time that P. beninensis LMG 25373^T produces a dextran-type exopolysaccharide (EPS) with a distinctive high degree of branching (approximately 71 % of α-(1 → 6)-linkages and 29 % α-(1 → 3)-linkages).
