Brief Report: Precision Language and Deletion of the "S" Word.

JTO Clin Res Rep

Division of Hematology and Oncology, College of Medicine, University of Illinois Chicago, Chicago, Illinois.

Introduction: In 2021, the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) published the IASLC Language Guide as guidance on preferred language and phrasing in oral and written communications, including presentations at conferences. Methods: We downloaded 522 slide presentations from the IASLC WCLC 2022 conference attendee portal.

Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) is a common neurodevelopmental condition characterized by significant difficulty with language learning, comprehension, and expression. Objective: Professional bodies recommend the use of performance validity tests (PVTs) to aid the interpretation of scores obtained in neuropsychological assessments, but base rates of failure differ according to neurological diagnosis and the associated impairments. This review summarises the PVT literature in people with epilepsy with the aim of establishing base rates of PVT failure and the factors associated with PVT performance in this population.

Methods: Ovid and PubMed databases were searched for studies reporting PVT test performance in people with epilepsy.
