Background: Atherosclerotic plaques in the internal carotid artery are responsible for more than 15% of ischemic strokes. Carotid F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (F-FDG PET) detects plaque inflammation. Plasma ICAM-1 and LRP1 concentrations have been associated with inflammation in ipsilateral carotid plaque.

Background And Aims: Neuregulin 1 (NRG-1) is one of the members of the epidermal growth factors proteins. The present study provides novel insights into the relationship between serum levels of NRG-1 and insulin resistance, subclinical atherosclerosis and cardiac dysfunction that occur in type 2 diabetes (T2D).
Methods: The study included 50 patients with T2D and 40 healthy age- and gender-matched controls.

Background: The aim of this study was to investigate presence of subclinical atherosclerosis by measuring carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) in patients with Helicobacter pylori (HP) and to assess effects of HP on atherosclerosis by evaluating markers of atherosclerosis and blood growth differentiation factor (GDF-15) levels.
Materials And Methods: This cross-sectional study included 59 patients without comorbid disease who had HP and 30 healthy controls without HP in upper endoscopic biopsy. In order to assess atherosclerosis, the CIMT measurement was performed by sonography.

Purpose: To investigate the frequency of hypogonadism and its relationship to inflammation and carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) in male patients with predialysis chronic kidney disease (CKD).
Methods: A total of 105 patients with CKD, 55 (52.4%) as stage 3, 33 (31.

Objective: Epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) is an active endocrine organ that could contribute to the pathophysiology of coronary artery disease (CAD) through the paracrine release of proatherogenic mediators. Numerous works have analyzed the inflammatory signature of EAT, but scarce informations on its lipidome are available. Our objective was first to study the differences between EAT and subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT) lipidomes and second to identify the specific untargeted lipidomic signatures of EAT and SAT in CAD.
