The exclusion of organic causes for psychiatric symptoms is a routine practice in mental healthcare. Brain tumors can elicit a range of mood, behavioral, or cognitive symptoms that mimic mental health disorders, significantly altering a patient's personality and behavior if left undiagnosed or untreated. This case report presents a 56-year-old Middle Eastern male with no prior history of mental illness who exhibited a three-week history of depressive symptoms, social withdrawal, and poor self-care.

This study compared laboratory and neuropsychiatric measures across the periods of HCV seroconversion and direct-acting antiviral (DAA) therapy with sustained virologic response (SVR) among PWH who initiated antiretroviral therapy (ART) during acute HIV infection (AHI) and acquired HCV after 24 weeks of ART.
Methods: Participants from the RV254 AHI cohort underwent paired laboratory and neuropsychiatric assessments during regular follow-up.

Bipolar affective illness (bipolar disorder - BD), also known as manic-depressive illness, is characterized by periodic opposite states of mood, activity, and motivation (mania and depression) sometimes of extreme intensity. The development and maintenance of such states in evolution can betoken a possibility of their adaptive character, enabling adaptation to an unfavorable external situation (depression) and a mobilization to using resources when available (mania). In the article, the main focus is put on the evolutionary aspect of "bipolarity" and manic/hypomanic states.
