Clinical efficacy and safety of sodium thiosulfate in the treatment of uremic pruritus: a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.

Arch Dermatol Res

January 2025

Blood Purification Center, Zhejiang Hospital, 1229 Gudun Road, Xihu District, Hangzhou, Zhejiang, 310030, China.

Uremic pruritus (UP) is a debilitating condition frequently associated with chronic kidney disease, severely impairing patients' quality of life and contributing to increased mortality. Recent studies have suggested that intravenous sodium thiosulfate (STS) may offer therapeutic relief for pruritus in patients undergoing hemodialysis. To assess its effectiveness, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to explore the potential of intravenous STS in managing UP.

Effect of Ph on the Physicochemical Properties of a Cassava Peel Starch Biopolymer.

Cell Physiol Biochem

January 2025

Carrera de Agroindustria, Escuela Superior Politécnica Agropecuaria de Manabí Manuel Félix López, ESPAM-MFL, Calceta. 130250, Ecuador.

Background/aims: This study investigates how pH levels affect the characteristics of biopolymer films manufactured from cassava peel starch. Cassava peel starch's abundance and biodegradability make it a promising candidate for sustainable packaging. The study seeks to improve film qualities such as thickness, density, moisture content, solubility, and optical properties by altering pH levels.

Background: This study assessed stress distributions in simulated mandibular molars filled with various materials after the removal of fractured instruments from the apical thirds of the root canals.

Methods: Finite element models of the mesial and distal root canals were created, where fractured instruments were assumed to be removed using a staging platform established with a modified Gates-Glidden bur (Woodpecker, Guangxi, P.R.

Mechanical behavior of external root resorption cavities restored with different materials: a 3D-FEA study.

BMC Oral Health

January 2025

Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Endodontics, Ondokuz Mayis University, Samsun, Kurupelit, 55139, Turkey.

Background: The aim was to evaluate the stresses in teeth, with external root resorption (ERR) restored with different materials using finite element analysis (FEA).

Methods: In this study, a Micro-CT scan was conducted on a prepared maxillary central tooth. DICOM-compatible images obtained from the sections were converted into stereolithography format using Ctan software.
