Duck circovirus (DuCV) infected multiple breeds of ducks and was widespread in duck factories worldwide. Infected ducks exhibited feathering disorder, growth retardation and immunosuppression, which lead to secondary infection with other pathogens easily. Duck viral hepatitis (DVH) caused by duck hepatitis A virus (DHAV) is a highly contagious and economically important disease of ducklings worldwide. In many parts of the globe, disease outbreaks are reported in spite of vaccinations, probably due to antigenic diversity among DHAV genotypes. The Novel Duck Reovirus (NDRV) infection poses a significant health risk to ducks, primarily attributed to the absence of efficacious preventive measures. This research aimed to investigate whether the administration of isolated Bacillus could protect antagonistic NDRV infection in a Cherry Valley duck model. Four indigenous Bacillus strains from the feces of healthy ducks demonstrated promising biosafety profiles.

Duck hepatitis A virus type 1 (DHAV-1) is a significant pathogen affecting ducklings, capable of causing rapid mortality and adversely impacting the development of the duck industry. Matrine, the primary active ingredient in various Chinese herbal medicines, has demonstrated antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties. Nevertheless, the effects and mechanisms of action of matrine against DHAV-1 infection remain unclear.
