Background: Health workers were at higher risk for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic due to occupational risk factors. This study aimed to characterize these risk factors as part of the World Health Organization (WHO) Unity Studies initiative.

Methods: This global, multi-centre, nested, case-control study was conducted in 121 healthcare facilities in 21 countries.

Background: Infection is a leading cause of total joint arthroplasty failure. In previous studies, we found correlations between the level of contamination, concentrations of airborne particles, and the number of staff present. Context: There is a lack of data on pesticide exposure levels during spraying with a knapsack, while it could have important implications for their users' health.

Methods: We assessed levels and determinants of exposure in 24 male private landscapers/gardeners and municipal workers in France in 2011. Actual dermal exposure to glyphosate was assessed with cotton undergarments and gloves, and a cotton coverall changed between mixing and spraying to assess the contribution of each phase and body area to overall contamination.

Indirect transmission of influenza A virus (IAV) contributes to virus spread in pigs. To identify farm management activities with the ability to contaminate farmworkers' hands and clothing that then could be a source of virus spread to other pigs, we conducted a within-farm, prospective IAV surveillance study. Hands and clothes from farmworkers performing the activities of piglet processing, vaccination, or weaning were sampled before and after the activities were performed.
