Most agricultural products are exposed to pesticides. Organochlorine (OCPs) insecticides have been banned for years due to their persistence in the environment and lipophilic properties. On the other hand, some carcinogenic organophosphates are used in high amounts.

Lanolin, also known as wool wax, is derived from sheep and has diverse applications in food, cosmetic, textile and lubricant industries. Owing to its direct contact with human, there is a need of studying pesticide residues as contaminants in lanolin. The present study describes a single novel hyphenated gas chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS) technique for the quantification of 14 organophosphorus (OP) pesticides (tecnazene, propetamphos, diazinon, dichlofenthion, chlorpyrifos methyl, fenchlorphos, malathion, chlorpyrifos, pirimiphos ethyl, bromophos ethyl, tetrachlorvinphos, ethion, phosalone, and coumaphos) in lanolin using electrospray ionization (EI) with multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) acquisition mode.

Multiresidue determination and potential risks of emerging pesticides in aquatic products from Northeast China by LC-MS/MS.

J Environ Sci (China)

January 2018

CAS Key Laboratory of Separation Science for Analytical Chemistry, Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Dalian 116023, China.

A simple method for determining 33 pesticides with a wide polarity range (logK 0.6-4.5) in aquatic products was developed based on LC-MS/MS.

The development and application of an analytical methodology for the pretreatment and determination of 253 multiclass pesticides, in lake sediment samples, using liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) are described in this work. Sediments of lakes Volvi, Doirani, and Kerkini, located in northern Greece, were collected in two-time periods (fall/winter 2010 and spring/summer 2011) and analyzed, applying the developed analytical methodology. Microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) was applied to extract the pesticide residues from lake sediment samples.

Removal of methyl parathion and tetrachlorvinphos by a bacterial consortium immobilized on tezontle-packed up-flow reactor.

Biodegradation

November 2011

Laboratorio de Investigaciones Ambientales, Centro de Investigación en Biotecnología, Universidad Autónoma del Estado Morelos, Cuernavaca, Mexico.

A tezontle-packed up-flow reactor (TPUFR) with an immobilized bacterial consortium for biological treatment of methyl-parathion and tetrachlorvinphos was evaluated. These organophosphate pesticides are widely used in Mexico for insect and mite control, respectively. With the aim of developing a tool for pesticide biodegradation, four flow rates (0.
